Dec 15, 2012

Dallas, TX. We express our sorrow at the willful violence that stole away their loved ones and destroyed the hope of so many futures yet to come. We stand with our fellow Americans in this time of crisis and loss and as a faith-based community we turn to God and seek His Mercy and Comfort for the victims, their families and our nation in this heart-wrenching time.

According to reports at least 27 people, including the gunman, were killed in an attack when a man dressed in black fatigues and armed with two handguns entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in the Sandy Hook village of Newtown, Connecticut, and killed 27 people, including 20 children, in a mass shooting. Nadim Bashir, Imam of the East Plano Islamic Center and a certified speaker with ISB-DFW said, "The killings in Newtown, Connecticut are an atrocity of the highest order. Killing children, teachers, and one's own parent is a crime that deserves nothing but the deepest condemnation. We express our outrage over these senseless killings, condemn this senseless act of violence, pray for those who were killed or injured and offer sincere condolences to their loved ones."

In the years since the Columbine tragedy, rampage shootings seem to occur with regularity. Unimaginable situations are now all too imaginable. We sincerely hope and pray that important lessons are learned from this tragedy and that we can come together as a nation to prevent future incidents like it.
